چکیده
fusion in STEMI patients and carries a high risk of complications, including increased rates of adverse remodeling, heart failure and death.16–23 Interestingly, previous studies have shown a reduction “in vivo” of the MVO rate in patients experiencing PIA.24–26 Of note, although it is already known that cardiovascular risk factors (CRFs) may limit the protective effects of IP in human models,27–30 it is still unknown whether they may also limit the protective effect of PIA on MVO. Therefore, in this retrospective study we sought to investigate the effect of PIA on MVO after primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) and the modulator role of CRFs.

Myocardial Salvage is Reduced in Primary PCI-Treated STEMI Patients with Microvascular Obstruction, Demonstrated by Early and Late CMR
OBJECTIVES This study evaluates the association between microvascular obstruction and myocardial salvage, determined by cardiac magnetic resonance performed both in the acute stage of myocardial infarction and after 4 months. METHODS In patients with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction treated by primary percutaneous coronary intervention, myocardial salvage, infarct size, left ventricul...

During the past decades, advances in percutaneous coronary intervention and antithrombotic therapy have improved the prognosis of patients with ST-segment–elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). However, in a substantial number of STEMI patients, myocardial perfusion remains impaired despite successful recanalization of the infarct-related epicardial coronary artery, and this scenario has been...
متن کاملComparison of Immediate With Delayed Stenting Using the Minimalist Immediate Mechanical Intervention Approach in Acute ST-Segment-Elevation Myocardial Infarction: The MIMI Study.
BACKGROUND Delayed stent implantation after restoration of normal epicardial flow by a minimalist immediate mechanical intervention aims to decrease the rate of distal embolization and impaired myocardial reperfusion after percutaneous coronary intervention. We sought to confirm whether a delayed stenting (DS) approach (24-48 hours) improves myocardial reperfusion, versus immediate stenting, in...

More than 30 years ago, thrombotic occlusion of a coronary artery was identified as the pathophysiological mechanism causing myocardial infarction (1). Mechanical and/or thrombolytic reperfusion has subsequently become the standard of care for patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). However, reperfusion of the epicardial coronary artery does not guarantee reperfusion a...
